catching up

I just finished perusing many of my colleagues' blogs. I am very impressed by how much we, as a staff, have said yes to technology: how frequently we have worked with our tech wizards to try new approaches to communicating content, and how we have opened our minds to new modes of teaching and learning.

Sometimes our staff can be grumpy. We feel pressure from so many directions, and this pressure makes us say no to new things. But the grace, encouragement, and support of Marcia and Debbie have made a huge difference.

stop, doc, and roll

I enjoyed adding to the Google doc that Marcia sent us and look forward to reading what others add. I don't know yet how I might use this tool personally or professionally. I think I'll talk about it with my sister who regularly sends me documents that she wants me to review and revise. I think I'd have to know more about how to organize documents before I'd use it in place of Word (with all its emailing of attachments to myself home-->school).

Can you see the reflection?

Right now, my blog and my emails to parents are practically the same. On my blog I can include pictures, and that's pretty much the difference. But I want there to be more difference, like the shiny guy from Apple said, and like some of my peers are implementing. I want my blog to include more links that enable students to extend their learning.

Instead, my blog falters as one-by-one I forget everything I've been taught. This middle-aged thing is taxing!
